About Me

I am a software developer / researcher at the System and Network Engineering group at the University of Amsterdam. My current work is mainly aimed at modeling computer network topologies and the resources that are connected to these networks. In the context of the Geysers project, I am involved in developing software based on semantic web technology to provide a data model and storage facilities and functionality to support communication and reasoning.
past experience:
From September 2009 to September 2010 I worked at VITO (the Flemish Institute for Technological Research) on smart grids. My work at VITO mainly was focused on used market based coordination to balance production and consumption of electricity. I also worked on modeling the flexibility of clusters of electrical devices.
From December 2004 to August 2009 I worked at the Human Computer Studies lab at the University of Amsterdams on Multi-Agent Systems and how they are organized. In this research I focused on the influence of the task-environment on the performance of different Multi-Agent Organizations. I also worked on adaptive organizations, enabling agents to adapt their organization when changes in their task-environment occur.
In 2004 I obtained a M.Sc. in computer science at the University of Twente. I worked at the Human Media Interaction group on processing and analyzing facial expressions in a virtual tutoring system.
In 2003, I worked as a summer student at the CARTE (Center for Advanced Research in Technology for Education) group which is a part of the Information Sciences Institute at the University of Southern California. My work was part of the The Social Intelligence Project which aims at making a pedagogical agent more socially intelligent.
